Comparing one supplier's prices, or several suppliers at once?
These are two different questions, and CostRift has a workflow for each. Pick the one that matches what you actually have in front of you.
One supplier, old price list vs. new price list
A supplier sent an updated price list, or you want to check what changed since the last one. You have two files from the same supplier — a previous version and a current one — and you want to know which items went up, which went down, what's new, what was dropped, and what it does to your margin. That's Price Change.
Several suppliers, one purchase
You're sourcing one purchase and have quotes from multiple suppliers for it — two, three, or more files, each from a different supplier, each quoting some or all of the same items. You want to know who's cheapest per item and what the total cost looks like across suppliers. That's Supplier Comparison.
Side by side
| Price Change | Supplier Comparison | |
|---|---|---|
| What you're comparing | One supplier's price list, then vs. now | Several suppliers' quotes for the same purchase |
| Typical question | What changed since the last time this supplier quoted us? | Which supplier is cheapest for each item, right now? |
| Files you upload | Two files from the same supplier: a previous and a current list | One file per supplier quoting the same purchase |
| What you get back | Increases, decreases, new and removed items, margin impact | Cheapest price per item, coverage per supplier, savings |
Still not sure?
If every file comes from the same supplier, it's Price Change. If the files come from different suppliers quoting the same purchase, it's Supplier Comparison. Both start from the same place — uploading the files — so picking the closer-sounding one below costs you nothing if you change your mind on the next screen.
